Birthday Cake facts

Written by admin. No comments Posted in: Uncategorized

it is very common for you to celebrate your birthday with a wonderfully designed and tasty birthday cake.
Remember that it was the ancient Greeks that started the practice of celebrating with cake. It was usually used when the birthdays of the gods and goddesses were celebrated.

If you were pondering on who decided to put candles on the top of the cakes- it was the Greeks who came up with that idea too. The first ever cake was topped with lit candles before the Greek God Artemis and that is the reason of lighting candles.

Mid-age England saw the practice of hiding curios within the cakes Each of the item was a prediction for the future of the finder.

You will find that things like the coins, rings, and even thimbles baked into the cake.
The Western culture got introduced to the birthday cake in the mid 19th century and since then the birthday cake has played important role in the birthday celebrations.

The cutting method is ridden with certain superstitious belies. If the knife scratches the bottom, or when just taking the knife away from the cake by itself there are bits of cake clinging to the knife, and the birthday person has to give a kiss to the closest person of the opposite gender.

The trick to blowing out your candles on a birthday cake and making a wish is to blow them all out. When someone blows out the candles on a birthday cake, it is believed that if they make a wish, keep it a secret, and all the candles go out in one blow, the wish will come true.

Typically, a birthday cake is decorated with lots of flowers and balloons, but it is covered in bright colors. It is a popular choice of the kids to have their cartoon characters or their favorite ones on the cake.

Because some birthday cakes can cost up to a couple hundred dollars, people will often make their own, or bake one from a package instead.
